Vortex Color Changing Toothpaste

Do you have problems getting your kids to brush their teeth? In my household there have been many struggles with my 4 year old and even my 2 year old to brush their teeth.

Since brushing teeth is done on a daily basis, I wanted to find a good toothpaste. I found Vortex color changing toothpaste.

The toothpaste was created by a retired dentist. It has a natural bubble gum grape flavor, made in the USA, FDA approved, and Sodium Lauryl Sulfate or (SLS) free. SLS is the foaming agent and research has found that this agent is unneccessary and can cause your gums to burn, cause canker sores, and does little or nothing to actually clean your teeth. Also the foaming is something that many kids do not like.

When I first heard about this toothpaste I was intrigued. I personally can't use many toothpastes because the flavors are too strong and it makes me gag. If I have trouble as an adult, I can just imagine how hard the flavors can be to a child.

My daughter Emarose (almost 5) is still using the training toothpaste. I have tried on several occasions to get her to switch but she constantly complains about the flavor.  She is also reluctant to try new things. I thought maybe with the color changing she'd be interested in trying it.

She was excited about receiving the toothpaste and liked the idea that it would change colors. However, she has yet to allow me to use this toothpaste on her. I think having colored toothpaste makes her think it will taste yucky and foam up a lot. I know this one doesn't so if she'd try it, I'm sure she'd like it.

That said, I did try this toothpaste out myself. I was surprised at how mild the toothpaste tasted. The flavor was pleasant to use while brushing my teeth. This is a huge plus for me.

When you put the toothpaste on your toothbrush it comes out in 2 different colors. 1 red and 1 blue. Then when you agitate them together in your mouth they slowly change into a vibrant purple. This is an interesting effect that makes brushing more fun. This fun factor helps to encourage your kids to brush for a longer time.

My 2 year old son also tried this toothpaste. This is a fluoride toothpaste but it has 20 % less fluoride than standard toothpaste. This still protects the teeth as well as the other toothpastes. Mainly because this toothpaste doesn't have the SLS and other chemicals found in other toothpastes. Even with less fluoride in this toothpaste I'm hesitant to use this toothpaste too often with my 2 year old. This is because he likes to suck the toothpaste off his toothbrush.  Jerom almost eats his toothpaste instead of spitting it out. So until he learns to spit and not swallow his toothpaste I will limit his use of it.  However he seemed to like it just fine.

To have a healthy looking teeth brushing alone is not enough, eating healthy food and proper oral hygiene are some of the things you need to do to prevent any tooth problems.
