8 EASY POOL CLEANING & MAINTENANCE TIPS

8 EASY POOL CLEANING & MAINTENANCE TIPS
Keeping your pool sparkling and clean doesn’t really have to be a burden as you might think. Different pools have different maintenance needs. However, they have one thing in common. The secret to clear sparkling pool water is routine cleaning. No matter if you pay for a pool cleaning service, you still need to take care of a few things on your own to maintain your pool’s condition for years.
Here are some awesome tips you need to know to keep your pool pristine clean.
  • Skim for Debris and Empty out Baskets
Skim your pool’s surface for fallen leaves, bugs, and debris every few days. Use a long skimmer or net to do this process. This is the fastest way to keep your pool clean. This way, you avoid debris from sinking at the bottom of your pool causing stains and bacteria to build up.

You also need to empty out and clean strainer baskets every week. This helps your water to circulate better and it lowers the need for adding chlorine. All you need to do is take it and shake it out. You might need to use a hose to spray the inside and clean out stubborn dirt and objects.

  • Brush Walls & Tile
It is important to brush the entire walls of your pool every week. This sounds like a lot of work but trust me, this actually saves you more time and lessens your burden of putting effort and more force when dirt accumulates and is a lot harder to get rid of if you don’t do this on a weekly basis. This prevents algae from building up and from causing more trouble in the future.

  • Vacuum your Pool
To keep the water clean and clear, make sure to vacuum your pool every week. This also helps in reducing the amount of chemicals needed and prevents bacteria and algae formation. You simply have to vacuum your pool the way your vacuum a carpet.

  • Clean Pool Filter
There different types of pool filter. While each of these types requires different cleaning procedures, all needs to be cleaned regularly depending on how often the pool is used. You don’t want to over clean it because it could be less efficient.

  • Check Water Level
A big volume of water is lost when a pool is regularly used. With all the splashing, swimming and even water evaporating in the air, it is very likely that the water will fall below its required level. Especially during peak season, ensure that it doesn’t fall below the required water level. The pump is in great risk of damage if that happens.

  • Maintain pH Level
Water should be checked regularly to ensure it’s clean and safe to use. PH scale measures acidity from 0-14. 7.2-7.8 is the ideal range that means the water is safe for swimmers. A well maintained pH level helps sanitizers to work at its best. You can monitor your pool’s pH level with a testing kit which is available in different types. Check the manual to know how to use the kit.

  • Shock your Pool
Contaminants and bacteria build up with time and when a pool is regularly used by a lot of people. There is a harsh odor at times that comes with it. To avoid this, shocking your pool regularly is important depending on how often you use your pool. Other pools require every week while other might take a longer period.

  • Check for Leaks and Damage
As a pool owner you have to be observant and cautious when using different pool equipment. Sometimes it is difficult to know if your water dropping below the required level is due to evaporation, heavy usage, or perhaps a leak. Inspect your equipment once in a while. And cleaning your pool is one way to do it. If you see any leak or problem, it’s best to call for a professional to have it repaired.

It’s always easy to jump in and dive in a clean pool, but the cleaning and maintaining process is all a tough job for some pool owners. But with this tips, don’t you think it makes everything easier? Clear out your mind and don’t be stressed. All you need to do is the follow these simple steps and you should be good to relax and enjoy your pool!

Its been a long time

HI guys its Katie. As you may have seen my main blog url is down so now I have to use .blogspot.com Any who here is what has been going on. My husband got laid off of work 2 weeks before Christmas!!! That was a really low blow and put me in a bad place. So the end of the year was hard. But I knew he would find a job. And while we had a few really close ones... nothing worked out. So we moved back to CO and live with my sister in law for 6 months before my husband got a job.

So blogging for me really was a set back I just was not feeling it. I missed doing it but did not really have a computer to blog with.

Now we are moving again!!! But this time it is into our own place. I am going to work really hard on coming back and talk to the few followers I have.

I have never been a big blogger before. I have not made more then maybe $50 a year on my blog. I know there are some blogs that have but I have not been that luck. I started my blog to help new moms, and I want to do that again. While I will still do review and I hope some giveaways I am also going to be doing some more DIYs too.

A nightmare weekend

Where do I even being?! We moved out of Az and to CO about a week ago. We have moved/lived his once before when my oldest was 1. At that time we had never head of something called altitude sickness. We went camping the first day or two once we got to CO. We went on something called pikes peak and its a big one. Aiden was breastfeeding at the time, so I knew something was wrong when he would feed and then it would all come right back out. Needless to say we got him off the mountain and called a urgent care and they told us all about altitude sickness. Aiden was find within a few hours of being off the big mountain.

Any how we knew that this might happen again when we moved again. Not like we where going to go up that mountain again but it is still a higher altitude then what they where used to. So Noah was acting a little sick we thought it was just that. Then a few days later he would wake up crying.... well that was when we saw the molars. We just kinda brushed it off and gave him some meds to help with the pain. Then the scare started. Thursday he slept all day and would not play peekaboo. If you knew my son you would know his all time favorite game is peekaboo. He would also sleep all day long. He woke up only to cry and then back to sleep again. Once again I thought it was from him teething. He did have a little cough but my kids drool to the back of their mouth. I decided that if he was like this one more day then I would take him to a dr/urgent care. So here I am Friday morning, my mother in law is here and Noah still acting sick. So we fine out where we can take him and off we go. My 3 kids, my mother in law and me, off to the urgent care. Once we got there they took his pulse ox and it was at 70. In case you don't know, you should be at 90-100. And his heart rate was at 200! Again that should be at 100.

Wrapy Babywrap

When you have a baby life does not stop. Dinner needs to get made, housework is waiting, but when baby is fussy you have to stop and make them happy. Babywearing is a way you can keep doing the things in life that have to done but keep baby close and happy. Babywearing allows you to bond with baby and have your hands free. I know babywearing has saved the day may times over Chris' life. He just turned three and still has days he goes up.

If you are new to babywearing it is hard to know where to start. I like to suggest to new moms to try out a stretchy wrap, like Wrapy babywrap. A stretchy baby wrap is comfortable for baby and mommy and because you wrap and tie the wrap on they work for any body type and they grow with your baby. This gives you the most bang for your buck.

Check out the video bellow for more info on Wrapy Babywrap.

For more info on how to tie a stretchy baby wrap check out my how to video on this past blog post.

The Wrapy Babycarier is a dark blue wrap made of 95% Cotton and 5% spandex. I find that because of that 5% spandex the wrap is softer, cooler, and thinner but stronger then other style stretchy wraps.

It comes in a great storage bag with a drawstring top.

Good from Birth to 35lbs (trust me I test this weight limit)

I don't have a tiny baby at home right now so this baby doll had to take the place of a newborn. The wrap gives your baby that snug feeling they love, its just like when you swaddle a baby but keeping them close to your heart. The wrap can even be pulled up to give your newborn more head support.

When you wear the wrap it crosses in the back, the fabric can be gathered up or worn wider to find the fit that feels best for you. Depending on your body type and size the wrap can be tied in front or back.

Yes that is my 30lbs 3 year old in the wrap! As you can see is his supported and comfy. He was more worried about still getting to watch his favorite cartoon.

Chris was loving being close to my face and tried to feed me a toy key. He leaned back as far as he could but was still secure in the wrap.

Follow Wrapy on Facebook and share pictures of your happy baby in your wrap.

Get your own Wrapy from HERE.

Special Thanks to Wrapy for my sample wrap, I will be using this wrap to teach new moms in the local babywearing group how to wear their baby.

Yoga Spinner By Think Fun

ThinkFun created another fun family friendly game. The Yoga Spinner is great for ages 5 and up.  The goal of the game is to get one card from each color card, white, green, red and blue. You spin and whatever color you land on you pull a card and do the pose on the card, if you can do and hold the pose for 10 seconds you get to keep the card. The white card is a two person pose, all people playing are to do this pose when a white card is pulled. If you land on a smile you can steal a card, a sad face you loose a card. Question mark is opponents' choice and the joker is players choice.
